GeoOttawa 2017 was pleased to continue the Best Conference Paper Awards first presented at GeoVancouver 2016. In the Best Case History Paper category, the technical committee awarded honourable mentions to Tarek Abdelaziz of Thurber Engineering and to Storer Boone of Golder Associates for their papers. The winner of the Best Case History Paper was Allan Kelly of Clifton Associates for his paper Landslides Triggered by Extreme Climatic Events: A Case Study of the Closure of the Canadian Pacific Mainline Track near Kenmare, ND. The winner of the Best Paper with a Student as the Lead Author was Hugh Gillen of the University of Alberta for his paper Performance of Granular Shear Keys for Landslide Remediation.
