Andy Take (Queen’s University) has assumed the position of Chair of the ISSMGE TC208, Slope Stability in Engineering Practice. Andy replaces Jonathan Fannin (University of British Columbia) in this position.
Bob Patrick (Tetra-Tech Canada) has been elected President-elect of the Canadian Dam Association. Bob has been an active member of the CGS Professional Practice Committee for many years.
Richard Brachman (Queen’s University) has been elected President-elect for IGS-North America, formerly known as the North American Geosynthetics Society (NAGS). Richard also serves as Technical Division Representative on the 2017 CGS Executive Committee.
Director/Chair Changes for CGS Sections, Divisions and Committees
December 31, 2016 marked the end of the volunteer terms for a number of Section Directors and Division/Committee Chairs. CGS would like to thank Section Directors Jason Pellett, Dave McDougal, Harpreet Panesar, Erik P. Ketilson, Kendall Thiessen, James S. Mitchell, and Sylvia Dooley; Division Chairs Alex Baumgard and Baolin Wang; Committee Chairs Jinyuan Liu, Michael Porter and Suzanne Powell; and Geotechnical Research Board Chair Murray Grabinsky.
As of January 1, a number of new Section Directors, and Division/Committee Chairs stepped into their new positions. We would like to welcome Section Directors Andrea Lougheed, Warren Lemky, David Elwood, Alena James, Jasyn Henry, Sheri Burton and Rajib Dey; Division Chair Dipanjan Basu; Committee Chairs Tareq Salloum, Heinrich Heinz, Dave Gauthier and James Blatz; and Geotechnical Research Board Chair Bruno Bussière.
