CGS Student Chapters

The CGS launched pilot tests of Student Chapters in September 2019. Student Chapters provide university students an opportunity to raise awareness and learn more about our field, network with professionals, and gain leadership experience through creating an organization within the CGS.

The pilot test will run until May 2020, after which the Student Chapters and CGS Executive Committee will convene to discuss the success of the initiative and next steps.

The universities include (from west to east):

  • University of British Columbia
  • University of Alberta
  • University of Saskatchewan
  • University of Manitoba
  • Waterloo University
  • Queen’s University and Royal Military College
  • Dalhousie University

If you have questions or are curious to learn more, reach out to Vincent Castonguay at yprep@cgs.ca.

Canadian Young Geotechnical Engineers and Geoscientists Conference (cYGEGC)

Every three years since 2004, the Canadian Young Geotechnical Engineers and Geoscientists Conference is held under the CGS hospice. The conference involves students and young practitioners and promotes networking in a relaxed and motivational environment.
