2019 CGS Membership and Corporate Sponsorship
By now CGS members should have received their first e-mail message about 2019 membership renewal – simply login at www.cgs.ca/login to get started. At the 2018 Business Meeting in Edmonton, CGS members voted to increase regular member fees to $220, an increase of $30 over the $190 fee that has been in effect since 2011. Retired and student member fees will remain unchanged at $70 and $45, respectively.
As always, CGS membership benefits continue to include:
- online access to the monthly Canadian Geotechnical Journal (including all past issues), and special pricing for the printed version;
- printed and online copies of the quarterly Geotechnical News;
- the CGS Geotechnical Information Net e-newsletter (monthly except July and August);
- online access to past CGS Annual Conference proceedings (1947-present) and videos of featured special lectures;
- reduced registration pricing for CGS Annual Conferences, and other CGS conferences;
- advanced notice of the spring and fall CGS Cross Country Lecture Tours featuring recognized national and international speakers;
- primary membership in one of CGS's seven technical divisions – Soil Mechanics and Foundations, Rock Mechanics, Engineering Geology, Groundwater, Cold Regions Geotechnology, Geoenvironmental, Geosynthetics;
- for regular members, complementary or reduced membership in the international society related to the primary CGS technical division selected, i.e., ISSMGE, ISRM, IAEG, IAH, IPA or IGS;
- participation in any of the eight CGS standing committees – Professional Practice, Education, Landslides, Mining Geotechnique, Transportation Geotechnics, Sustainable Geotechnics, Heritage and Membership;
- participation in the CGS Geotechnical Research Board; and
- involvement in the society for all Canadian geotechnical professionals.
We welcome all renewing members and look forward to your participation in 2019. For your colleagues who may not be CGS members yet, this is the perfect time to join! We encourage you to introduce them to the CGS as the benefits that the Society offers to our profession continue to grow.
Our Corporate Sponsors who generously supported the CGS in 2018 (see previous news item) will shortly receive a reminder inviting them to continue sponsoring the CGS in 2019.
